Last Days in the Fort! and the drama of getting to Berlin.

Lots of good friends to say good bye to. It was a rough day. Our friends were over helping with last minute cleaning and packing. There was laughter and tears. I will miss everyone so much, but know that we will all keep in touch and hopefully have visitors once the borders open back up.  We made this decision pre pandemic. Who would think we would move overseas during this time. The last 4 weeks have been stressful, fridge went out, washing machine went out, borders were closed to Americans trying to enter the EU. Now we wish kids and I had visas.  The school thought the kids and I should fly to LA a week before we left to try and get emergency Visas, however, it wasn't guaranteed.  Our flight was cancelled twice and we reschedule and paid a lot more for the tickets. We got emails and letters from the German consulate, the Munich border police, our certified marriage license with apostille (a document to certify the certified copy is certified) birth certificates, our lease in Berlin, our leased house here, acceptance letters for kids to school, signed work contract.  We are READY.
