Tuefelsberg

THIS IS ACTUALLY ON AN ARTIFICIAL HILL, MADE OUT OF THE RUBBLE THAT BERLIN WAS REDUCED TO BY THE ALLIED BOMING DURING WWII. 800 TRUCKS A DAY DROVE RUBBLE OUT OF THE CITY.  THE AMERICAN AND THE BRITISH DECIDED TO PLACE THEIR SPY STATION ON TOP OF TUEFELSBERG.AT THE HEIGHT OF THE COLD WAR 1,500 SPIES WORKED HERE. IT HAS NOW TURNED INTO THE LARGEST GRAFFITI GALLERY IN EUROPE. Not sure why I was writing in caps lock. Do not like it, I am stopping now.  

We had a really good time looking around the area, there were several buildings that were closed, that have been open in the past, but we still got to see quite a bit. It was right up Lexa's alley.

I AM THINKING WE HAVE A COMMON THEME, MILO IS DONE.. THESE ARE OUR FRIENDS JOCIE, RYAN AND GREYSON. JOCIE CAME FROM THE SAME SCHOOL DISTRICT AS JEFF. 

This was the last thing we did for fall break. It was a good two weeks off. Thankful we got to explore around our area here. Hopefully we will be able to move about more freely in months to come. 

Baum & Zeit Baumkronenpfad Beelitz-Heilstatten The Treetop Place

 I have to say this was one of my favorite places. It was so beautiful. I love being outside. This used to be the Alpenhaus that was a compound that housed tuberculosis patients. We did not take any of the tours that are offered as they were all in German. It was a very well thought out complex for the patients with all kinds of factors taken into account.  There are gardens that I would like to come back to explore in the spring, they were laid out for the patients to create a visually stimulating environment that was as dust free as possible, because the long stays in the fresh air in Beelitz, as long walks were an integral part of the therapies. There are 65 different tress and shrubs were integrated in the gardens here.

THIS WAS A NET THAT KIDS (NOT ME) COULD WALK ACROSS. LEXA HAD NO PROBLEM WITH IT. I COULDN'T MAKE MYSELF DO IT.

These are our friends the McGee's they are from California and have been in Germany a few years and in Berlin for 2. Thankful to have met them!

The buildings are creepy, but beautiful.

Trees growing out of he tops of the buildings. They, at one time, housed wounded soldiers and were damaged during the war. 

There was this climbing apparatus the kids went through, it was crazy.

WE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE FUNNY TO HAVE STRAIGHT FACES IN FRONT OF AN ABANDON CREEPY BUILDING TO REALLY SHOW HOW WE FEEL ABOUT 2020. MILO, WHO WE HAVE TO FORCE TO SMILE, COULD NOT KEEP A STRAIGHT FACE. IT WAS PRETTY FUNNY

THIS WAS A FUN ADVENTURE THAT I WOULD DO AGAIN. IT WAS SO PRETTY, I AM THINKING ALL TIMES OF YEAR WOULD BE FUN HERE. I WOULD LIKE TAKE A TOUR BUT WOULD HAVE TO LEARN REALLY GOOD GERMAN, NOT SURE THAT WILL HAPPEN IN 2 YEARS.
